Michael Ray Rhodes directs this lavish version of Johanna Spyri's tale about an orphan girl and her grandfather in the Swiss Alps. The irrepressible, orphaned Heidi (Noley Thornton) wins over her crotchety grandfather (Jason Robards) and then is whisked away from him to the city, where she becomes the companion of an invalid girl named Klara (Lexi Randall). Soon, the girls become fast friends. Co-stars Patricia Neal and Jane Seymour.
