This maudlin, occasionally quirky film depicts life in a bleak Armenian village. Their Soviet provisions long gone, the cast of colorful villagers seek subsistence, meaning and identity. With nothing left to lose, Hamo (Romen Avinian) rides the bus daily to the graveyard to visit his wife. Also on the bus each day is Nina (Lala Sarkissian), who visits her husband's grave. Brought together by grief and uncertainty, the two begin a relationship.

"Vodka Lemon" charts the intermingling marriages, death and sexual complications in an Armenian village. It could be an Ice Capades version of a Beckett play, with a group of seasoned though modest hammy actors in complete control.

Consensus: Vodka Lemon is a bleak and darkly funny comedy, just like its town and people.
