American journalist Ruth travels to Poland with her father Edek to visit his childhood places. But Edek, a Holocaust survivor, resists reliving his trauma and sabotages the trip, creating unintentionally funny situations.

Patrycja "Pati" Cichy is an ambitious young woman with a difficult life. She, alone, is responsible for taking care of her younger siblings, Natalka and Natanek, as well as her mother Julita, who is entangled in drugs and the criminal world. Despite all the adversities, Pati dreams of a better life and won't give up fighting to reach it.
