In the early 1910s, Ida Dalser fell for the future Italian leader Benito Mussolini, supported him through unemployment, married him, and bore his son. Losing touch during World War I, they meet again in a hospital, where she also discovers he had married another woman in the meantime.

Florentino, rejected by the beautiful Fermina at a young age, devotes much of his adult life to carnal affairs as a desperate attempt to heal his broken heart.

Writer-director Carolina Cavalli's darkly comic feature debut is a deliciously satirical character study of a twentysomething looking for purpose... and also a friend. It's Amanda's first summer back in Italy after studying in Paris, and it soon becomes clear that her peculiar and intense personality has rendered her friendless.
