A successful, middle-aged, overweight New Yorker, bored with his life, gets divorced and goes to Hollywood, with his dream of becoming a movie star.

Described as a "Hanukkah musical", this is the story of what happens when Whitey, an elderly basketball coach, meets Davey (Sandler), a local misfit who lost his parents when he was a teenager, who must help coach his team to avoid jail and, in doing so, discovers the true meaning of the holiday season.
