From 2000-2003 he climbed the peaks Kangchenjunga, K2, Shishapangma and Everest together with his younger comrade Moo-taek Park, becoming like a brother to him in the process. But in 2004, while descending from the peak of Everest, Moo-taek Park lost his life in an accident.
