Obelix is madly in love with Falbala, Tragicomix's beautiful sweetheart. However the Romans kidnap the two love-birds with the intention of gifting them to Ceasar during his Triumphant March. In their determination to find the two lovers, Asterix, Obelix, and their faithful dog, Idefix, sign up with the Roman Legion and even rent themselves out as gladiators.

After countless beatings by Asterix and Obelix, the Romans decide to kidnap the druid Getafix in the hope of getting the secret formula for his magic potion.

Gallic heroes Asterix and Obelix take on the might of the Roman Empire. When Julius Caesar finally fears that he may never be able to defeat Asterix and conquer his village, he comes up with a deal; if they can pass twelve of his chosen tasks, the whole of the Roman Empire will be theirs. If not, they must surrender.
