Three stories linked by a studio in Paris: In 1937, two lovers meet after 15 years in the room in which they were lovers once. In 1939, the room is occupied by a medical student who has an affair with a doctor much older than herself. In 1942, a young girl lives in the room and has an affair with a married man.

Vern Haskell (Arthur Kennedy) is pushed to revenge when his fiancée is killed during a general store robbery.
