Room at the Top
(1958)Jack Clayton's 1959 feature length debut Room at the Top paved the way for the British New Wave. It is considered one of the first Kitchen Sink Dramas. The Pickwick Papers

The widow Mrs. Bardell (Hermione Baddeley) also gets involved when one of Mr. Jingle's schemes gets Pickwick put on trial for breaking a promise to marry her.

The Rough and the Smooth

When by chance he sees her again later, they embark on a torrid love affair which threatens to ruin his long-term relationship with his fiancée, and his career prospects dependent upon her rich, titled uncle.
