In late 1940s Italy, a mother makes the difficult decision to send her son to the north, where he catches glimpses of a new life away from poverty.

In this time-jumping dramedy, a workaholic who's always in a rush now wants life to slow down when he finds himself leaping ahead a year every few hours.

The film follows the true story of how a six-year-old Jewish boy, Edgardo Mortara, was taken by the Catholic Church following claims that he was baptized by the family’s maid as a baby. While the distraught Mortara family fight to get him back, they find themselves at the epicentre of a wider historical battle between the forces of Catholic authoritarianism and the growing opposition movement.

Turin 1969. Massimo’s idyllic childhood is shattered by the mysterious death of his mother. The sensitive boy refuses to accept what happened. Years later, now a successful journalist, he is forced to sell his parents’ flat. Memories come flooding back, along with the anguish of an unresolved past.
