Contest organizers hold a water field drilling competition in a desert town, where there is a mysterious giant beast lurking beneath the surface.

After a high-speed chase leads to a crash, two bank robbers and their three hostages take shelter in a mysterious manor in the woods. They soon realize the manor is home to a strange entity, and none of them are safe from its malice.
