Overview

Set in a harsh Brazilian prison, this Oscar-winning 1985 film follows two very different cellmates -- one a revolutionary and the other a gay man who passes the time retelling the story of an old movie. Starring William Hurt (who won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance), Raul Julia, and Sônia Braga. Directed by Hector Babenco; written by Leonard Schrader, based on the novel by Manuel Puig.
